Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage, lead, and develop a multi-discipline team of engineers, technical SMEs, and third-party consultants.
- Foster a collaborative approach to working across teams, departments, time zones, and business units.
Technical Support and Engineering Solutions:
- Identify opportunities to increase quality, throughput, and uptime, while decreasing costs.
- Determine standard engineering requirements and gaps for all operating facilities, as well as create standard framework for engineering deliverables for new facilities.
- Own technical processes and procedures and inform/consult various functions in the business on technical and engineering parameters.
- Provide process troubleshooting support, make technical recommendations, answer technical inquiries, improve process engineering tools (including modelling programs, as needed), and develop process procedures.
- Provide guidance to right-size engineering solutions, balancing value engineering with code and regulatory requirements. Provide technical engineering review for small and large capital projects (both green and brownfield assets).
Process, Functional, and Electrical Safety:
- Own the assurance of EDL’s Process Safety Management program.
- Institute and maintain best practices with process and functional safety (e.g. accurate process safety information, alarm management and justification, equipment isolations, management of change).
- Provide resources to support North American Electrical Safety program.
- Provide engineering support for programs as needs are determined such as grounding studies, arc flash studies, relief system studies, facility siting studies, vibration and corrosion monitoring, ultrasonic testing, etc.
- Support incident investigations and lessons learned and execute on key findings when engineering or process safety related. Support continuous improvement processes to communicate these key learnings.
- Support process safety tier reporting and work towards reducing process safety events.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Utilize key risk management tools and provide resources for risk assessments, HAZOPs, and root cause failure analyses (RCFA).
- Comply with industry standard requirements and best practices (e.g. ASME, API, etc.). Maintain subscription to engineering standards program and right-size access for the North American business.
Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Data analysis, trending, and reporting of operational parameters from SCADA and from PI; creation of PI dashboards to support operations and leadership with data-driven decision making.
General:
- Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.
- Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors.
- In addition to the duties set out above, the Director of Engineering and Technical Support may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years in engineering or technical roles, preferably in RNG, natural gas, or midstream operations
- 5+ years in leadership/management overseeing engineering teams, technical specialists, project managers, operators, or support staff
- Proven experience in facility design, process optimization, and equipment troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of compression, pressure-swing adsorption, and other gas processing technologies
- Strong process safety background
- Familiarity with automation, SCADA, and digital transformation initiatives
- Experience managing capital projects and supporting operational initiatives
- Understanding of regulatory compliance (EPA, PHMSA, OSHA, NFPA, API, ASME, etc.)
- Experience with data analytics and performance monitoring tools to drive efficiency
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, projects, compliance, health and safety, and commercial teams
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Ability to implement and lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Six Sigma methodologies a plus)
- Knowledge of landfill operations
