Head of Corporate Responsibility & QA

The Head of Corporate Responsibility is a member of the executive team and leads a team responsible for compliance, sustainability, ethical sourcing, and corporate responsibility initiatives at Outdoor Cap. This role aligns with the company’s Relationship Pillar, ensuring robust environmental, social, customer-focused programs while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with internal partners, external stakeholders, and industry leaders.

As a member of the executive team, this individual is expected to contribute to high-level strategic discussions, provide insights on corporate responsibility trends, and help shape the company’s long-term direction. They should actively engage in leadership meetings, collaborate across departments, and develop a deep understanding of how ‘best in class’ corporate responsibility intersects with business growth. Additionally, they will be responsible for driving alignment between internal and external stakeholders and overall corporate strategy, ensuring their initiatives support the company’s broader business objectives.

This position will play a crucial role in shaping Outdoor Cap’s corporate responsibility strategy, ensuring sustainable business practices, and driving long-term positive impact for stakeholders, employees, and the broader community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Upholds Outdoor Cap’s Mission-Vision-Values and Founder’s Pillars by acting with integrity; working together as a team; treating each other with respect. Lead and develop a corporate responsibility strategy that aligns with Outdoor Cap’s long-term business goals.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports specializing in compliance, vendor compliance, ethical sourcing, and supplier engagement.
  • Oversee and advance company-wide responsibility initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
  • Establish and manage supply chain compliance programs, ensuring adherence to social responsibility standards and ethical sourcing policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, industry groups, and customers, to promote responsible business practices.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives, including environmental impact reduction, materials innovation, and reporting frameworks.
  • Oversee corporate compliance programs, ensuring global supply chain compliance, responsible sourcing, and adherence to factory auditing standards.
  • Stay ahead of evolving global trade and compliance regulations, ensuring Outdoor Cap meets all industry and governmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to integrate sustainability considerations into the design and manufacturing process.
  • Lead corporate philanthropy and factory community engagement efforts, ensuring alignment with business values and impact goals. Example: Literacy Program
  • Oversee compliance and reporting frameworks such as HIGG, THESIS, and internal sustainability metrics.
  • Oversee vendor compliance with a focus on vendor contracts, ensuring terms align with corporate policies and industry regulations. Chargebacks, managing and enforcing supplier accountability measures to reduce financial impact. Cross-functional collaboration, working across departments to ensure compliance with customer requests and expectations.
  • Drive key initiatives within supply chain mapping, traceability, and testing program expansion, enhancing transparency, accountability, and meeting key governed requirements.

  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Ability to proactively identify challenges and implement impactful solutions in sustainability and compliance.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong ability to analyze and interpret ESG-related metrics and compliance reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Experience managing direct reports and fostering a high-performing team culture.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in corporate responsibility, sustainability, compliance, or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record of managing compliance programs, sustainability initiatives, and ethical sourcing frameworks.
  • Experience in global supply chain compliance, supply chain tracking and sustainability reporting.
  • Strong familiarity with industry certifications such as HIGG, THESIS, and environmental/social auditing standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive strategic change at an organizational level.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend, and move inside the office to access files and product. 
  • Domestic and/or international travel up to 25% 
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner. 
  • Ability to move 10-20 lbs. occasionally throughout day.
  • Able to hear a telephone ring.
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
