Marketing & Business Development Manager (Contract Role)

A recruiter client is an international law firm who are seeking a M&BD Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working for a law firm in a similar role. This is a 7-month maternity cover contract. They are looking for someone to join in June on spouse sponsorship. You must currently reside in the UAE or be in the process of relocation within the next five weeks and be able to be sponsored by your spouse. Description:

  1. Working to agreed set of objectives with the Managing Partner and the M&BD Director
  2. Oversee and be part of the team’s involvement in all panels, pitches, RFPs through to capability statements
  3. Reflect regional expertise and experience, by maintaining an agreed list of marketing materials
  4. Ensuring CVs, Intranet and website are all kept up to date
  5. Managing a regional budget to support the growth strategy
  6. Working collaboratively with the team to develop and ensure delivery of best practice by building the necessary infrastructure and processes to work most efficiently e.g. directories, awards, proposals, BD WIP, PR WIP, InterAction, Vuture etc.
  7. Manage expectations and capacity of the team in terms of service delivery to the Middle East partnership
  8. Working collaboratively with the central marketing team and In-Group team to integrate international cross-practice business development, communications and development client activities
  9. Utilising internal and external sources, including working with PSLs and other specialist in-house resources
  10. Ensure the team successfully delivers events, including seminars, client entertainment, conference sponsorship, client presentations and roadshows
  11. Help embed a behaviour of disciplined follow-up for events
  12. Astute assessment of event opportunities, including go/no go assessment and working with partners to develop robust business cases, an understanding of event ROI and follow up
  13. Utilise internal systems (such as InterAction and Vuture) to full effect
  14. Attend and support the execution of events with the team where needed
  15. Understand the existing client base with a view to identifying opportunities to broaden and strengthen the client relationships
  16. Assisting with the firm’s Global Key Client Programme and Strategic Growth Clients
  17. Aligning the team to drive the institutionalising of clients and internal referrals
  18. Assisting with the Client Listening programme
  19. Targeting specific clients for development
  20. Understanding the levers that will improve profitability
  21. Embedding new laterals to ensure that their capabilities are understood by the business internally and clients externally

Criteria:

  1. Degree qualification
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a professional services/partnership environment with an understanding of the legal sector, ideally already at Manager level or more Senior Manager within an international law firm
  3. Credibility – authoritative, knowing one’s subject and confident
  4. Demonstrates and build trust throughout the global team and across the firm
  5. Proven ability of working across all levels of business, preferably within a multi-jurisdictional environment
  6. An international mind-set
  7. Demonstrable experience of initiating and implementing successful business development and marketing communications activities, including managing and leading integrated sector-focused and client development plans; developing and implementing business plans; managing pitch process
  8. Strong delivery focus, with a record of accomplishment of being a proactive individual with excellent organisational/project management skills
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills including oral/written communications, influencing, diplomacy, flexibility, tenacity
  10. Ability to work on own initiative, show innovation and develop projects
  11. Can carry out responsibilities in a way, which supports the firm’s values
  12. Must currently reside in the UAE or be in the process of relocation within the next five weeks and be able to be sponsored by your spouse
