Director Performance Management

The Director of Performance Management will work closely with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) to drive operational excellence, strategic alignment, and impactful outcomes across Programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of key initiatives, enhancing cross-functional collaboration, and providing high-level strategic support to the CPO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership and Leadership: Serve as a key advisor and thought partner to the CPO, prioritizing critical decisions, shaping Program Area objectives, and managing high-impact deliverables. Lead the annual strategic implementation process in partnership with CPO to align program area goals with agency priorities.
  • Operational Excellence and Performance Tracking: Oversee the development and implementation of performance management frameworks, including KPI tracking, financial reporting, and operational metrics. Facilitate the annual budgeting and goal-setting process for Program Area, ensuring operational alignment with the overall strategic plan.
  • Executive Communication and Reporting: Prepare high-level reports, executive summaries, presentations, Program Area recommendations, and newsletters for the Board of Directors, Program Impact Committee, and other senior stakeholders. Ensure clear, concise, and impactful communication of program performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Lead in the execution of major cross-functional projects and initiatives, introducing best practices in project management and change management to enhance efficiency and impact. Act as a champion for continuous improvement and innovation within Program Area.
  • Team Development and Engagement: Plan and execute Program Leadership Group (PLG) team retreats, leadership meetings, and other engagement activities to strengthen team alignment and morale. Support PLG team members through advising and collaboration in the development of key presentations and deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Management and Representation: Act as a representative of the CPO in various meetings and projects. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and alignment across the organization.
  • Organizational Efficiency and Knowledge Management: Drive the standardization of processes and documentation within Programs to enhance knowledge management, efficiency, and communication. Leverage technology and systems to streamline operations and improve decision-making.
  • Special Projects and Program Initiatives: Lead and respond to special projects as assigned by the CPO, addressing emerging needs and opportunities. Provide high-level analysis and insights to support executive decision-making, operational planning and strategic plan implementation.
  • Resource Development and Partnership Cultivation: Engage in efforts to bring new resources to organization and Program area including grant opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances. Serve as an attendee and representative for the organization and Program Area at local/state/national events to bring brand awareness and cultivate new relationships.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Leadership and Influence: Proven ability to build trust and influence senior and executive leaders, demonstrating strategic thinking, problem-solving, and advisory capabilities.
  • Strategic and Analytical Skills: Strong financial acumen, including expertise in quantitative and qualitative analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting. Ability to synthesize complex information and elevate key insights for executive action.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS 365 (particularly Excel), project management platforms, financial management systems, and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Highly attuned, empathetic, and responsive to the needs of diverse leaders, with the ability to navigate a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding and respect for the diverse economic and cultural backgrounds of the families and communities served.
