Job Description/Requirements
Tips: You will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the company’s Treasury, Finance, and Financial Advisory divisions. You will be responsible for strategically managing the company’s capital structure and liquidity, driving the growth and execution of fee-based financial advisory opportunities, overseeing comprehensive financial planning, and ensuring rigorous financial control, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance to support the company’s objectives.
You will possess a unique blend of strategic thinking, operational excellence, a deep understanding of the financial markets, and commitment to the organization’s values.
Responsibilities
Financial Advisory
1. Lead and grow the Financial Advisory business, overseeing the development and execution of initiatives aimed at generating significant fee-based income, with an initial target of achieving N100 million within the first 6 months.
2. Define, articulate, and execute the overall strategy for the Financial Advisory business unit, including developing marketing and business development plans to build a strong market presence and deal pipeline.
3. Provide executive oversight on the execution of all financial advisory mandates from origination to closing.
Treasury Management
4. Cultivate and maintain robust business relationships with financial institutions and the broader market to identify and establish short-term and long-term funding sources for the company.
5. Generate N2.5 billion in new deposit liabilities for the company within the first 6 months, and ensure increased volumes on existing customer accounts.
Financial Control and Management
6. Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory ratios as specified by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the operations of a finance house.
7. Oversee and ensure the timely commencement and successful conclusion of all audit exercises, including financial, CBN, tax, and other regulatory compliance audits.
8. Provide leadership and direction for the annual corporate budget process, ensuring its strategic alignment, reviewing and certifying the final proposal submitted by the finance function, and facilitating Board approval.
9. Review and validate monthly budget performance reports, and present quarterly and yearly performance reports to the Board of Directors.
10. Drive the company’s performance appraisal process by conducting monthly, quarterly, and yearly performance review sessions.
11. Mentor and train the finance team, ensuring their knowledge remains current regarding local and international financial regulations governing the company’s operations.
Qualifications
- Extensive Industry Experience & Leadership : 12+ years of progressive experience in finance, treasury, investment banking, or financial advisory within a relevant industry (e.g., finance house, accounting firm, investment bank, etc.), with a proven track record of senior managerial and executive leadership.
- Strong Educational Background & Professional Credentials : A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field is required; an MBA, CFA, ACA/ACCA, or other relevant professional qualifications are strongly preferred.
- Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Acumen : Demonstrated ability to provide innovative and strategic leadership, drive financial strategy, oversee multiple divisions, and gain cross-functional support for major initiatives and change.
- Advanced Analytical & Quantitative Skills : Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to interpret complex market data, conduct modeling, and provide insightful, data-based financial guidance.
- Executive-Level Communication & Influence : Superior verbal, written, presentation, negotiation, and diplomatic skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and influence stakeholders at all levels, including the MD, Board, and external stakeholders.
- Results Orientation & Problem Solving : Proven ability to lead projects, solve complex problems effectively, manage competing priorities to meet deadlines, and deliver significant financial outcomes.
