The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City seeks a driven grants professional to support the philanthropic work of YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, a nonprofit serving Central Oklahoma for over 130 years. The YMCA’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body FOR ALL.
The Grants Director is responsible for securing and stewarding grants from corporations, foundations, and public funders through the grants pipeline of research, development, and stewardship. This position reports to the Vice President of Financial Development and contributes to the Financial Development department and organization strategic goals. The current portfolio totals $1.5M in grants annually through private foundations, corporate foundations and government contracts. The Grants Director will be expected to grow this portfolio annually to achieve organizational growth that aligns with the YMCA’s strategic plan and contribute positively to the operational budget.

Applicants must upload a cover letter and two recent writing samples from successful grant applications or a similar body of work that highlights their ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Draft and ensure timely submission of letters of intent, grant proposals and funding reports on a timely basis as outlined on the organizational grant calendar.
- Manage proposals with staff at all levels and departments, ensuring that all aspects of grant applications are complete, organized, and flow together in a cohesive manner aligned with YMCA standards.
- Maintain compliance with and submit monthly reimbursement claims for government contracts.
- Manage stewardship efforts of foundations and other grant-funding agencies in collaboration with other financial development team members.
- Maintain and record accurate information on proposals, declinations, and awards, reporting requirements, and application timelines to ensure all deadlines are met and proposals are tracked electronically, including grant activity tracking in shared drives and databases.
- Demonstrate a high degree of skill in communication and positive interaction with all employees, volunteers, external agencies/companies, and the community at large.
- Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Financial Development to identify sustainable funding sources for grant-funded programs and general operations.
- Collaborate with branch staff and other departments to identify funding sources for programs and operational support.
- Work directly with the Business Office for expense reconciliation and audit requests.
- Approve allowable expenses for grants through accounting software.
- Assist the Financial Development team in events and attend team meetings.
Qualifications
- Two to three years of grant writing or related work experience in fundraising or writing experience in the non-profit area.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and juggle priorities while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset, working with team members and staff from other departments.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively solve problems.
- Must be able to work under pressure, use independent judgment, and produce a quality grant within tight time constraints.
- Skill in highly persuasive and effective writing.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong computer skills, and general understanding of financial principles.
- Skill in researching and analyzing.
- Ability to represent, effectively and professionally, the organization to a wide variety of audiences.
- A commitment to equity and ensuring that everyone is represented by the organization.
Salary Description
$47,500.00 annually
