DIRECTOR – MEDICAL EDUCATION

Summary

SUMMARY:

The Director of Medical Education (DME) is responsible for the leadership, development, and oversight of graduate medical residency programs, continuing medical education, the medical library and short-term clinical training programs within the institution. This role ensures compliance with current accreditation standards and fosters a culture of academic excellence, professional development, and innovation in medical training.

Responsibilities

Educational Leadership

  • Provides overall administrative direction and support for the DIO, the Graduate Medical Education Committee, program directors, program administers and hospital leadership.
  • Plays a multifaceted role in ensuring institutional and program compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements.
  • Plan, manage and oversee graduate medical education institutional initiatives and events that benefit the overall well-being and development of residents and faculty.

Accreditation & Compliance

  • Maintain accreditation standards (e.g., ACGME, ACCME) and prepare for site visits and audits.
  • Acts as a liaison between the institution, the DIO, Graduate Medical Education Committee, residency programs and the ACGME.
  • Develop and implement policies and documentation required for educational regulatory compliance.

Faculty & Learner Development

  • Organize faculty development initiatives to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Exhibit excellent knowledge of Institutional and graduate medical education policies, laws and regulations address learner concerns, performance, professionalism and progression issues.

Strategic Planning & Administration

  • Manage the educational budget and resource allocation.
  • Promote quality improvement, and scholarly activity and research in medical education.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as the liaison between hospital administration, medical schools, and accrediting bodies.
  • Foster a collaborative environment among medical staff, residents, medical students and academic partners.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
