Scope
Houlihan Lokey is looking for a Director to join the firm’s growing Corporate Development team (“the team”). Over the past decade, the firm’s bull-bear balanced platform has worked as designed and the Company has grown by over 12% per year since its IPO. As such, effectively implementing strategic acquisitions has also become an increasingly important part of HL’s growth strategy.
The Corporate Development team reports directly to the CEO and CFO, while working in partnership with the heads of the various business lines as well as corporate departments of the firm. This person will play a key role in executing strategic acquisitions and other key strategic initiatives globally. The Director will be actively involved in all aspects of acquisitions and will be conducting various analyses and preparing presentations on strategic initiatives for the firm’s executives / senior management.

Responsibilities
- Support the build-out of the firm’s acquisition strategy, with a focus on international (non-US) markets.
- Work closely with corporate and divisional management in reviewing the merits of potential acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and joint ventures.
- Conduct project management for all stages of the M&A process including target identification, evaluation, deal negotiation and structuring, due diligence, legal documentation, and post-deal integration planning.
- Oversee the management of databases, processes and reports that support the firm’s acquisition strategy, such as the team’s acquisition target pipeline and database, market maps and target searches, and precedent transaction performance reporting, to name a few.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and create presentations for the firm’s executives / senior management that summarize the strategic rationale and financial impact of various strategic opportunities.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree (BA / BS), preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- A minimum 4 to 8 years of M&A experience or analytical work experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, consulting, or corporate finance is preferred.
- An advanced understanding of financial modeling and analysis commonly used in acquisition work and knowledge of relevant accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the requirement to work closely and confidently with senior management.
- Superior skills with Excel and thorough understanding of PowerPoint and Word.
- A strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and have strong project management skills.
- The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- First-class literacy, numeracy and organizational skills.
- A keen commercial sense, and a broad general knowledge and interest in current affairs.
