Global Markets Group is the offshoring arm of Morgan Stanley’s Sales & Trading businesses in India. It covers functions across IED -ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, strats to risk management.

Primary Responsibilities

The role is based out of Mumbai and requires working with the Equity Derivatives Trading, Global Capital Markets and Equity Derivatives CFO on analysis of financial resource metrics of Corporate Equity Derivatives desk. The role would cover products like Equity Margin Lending, Collar Financing, Convertible Bond Hedging and other structured derivatives. This will have regular Interaction with Sales, Trading, Finance, Operations, Legal, Non-Market Risk, and COO teams. The role will require a fast-learning, dynamic, pro-active, and self-motivated person to assist the team in collating, analyzing and presenting business trends and key metrics.

The role involves working on –

  • Business Performance Analytics
  • Analysis of Equity market movements and its impact on balance sheet and capital requirement of Corporate Equity Derivatives book.
  • Pre trade analysis of financial resource: Balance Sheet, Risk Weighted Assets(RWAs), GSIB buffer and ROE.
  • Monthly analysis of SA-CCR credit risk RWAs and market risk RWAs movement for the desk.
  • Post trade ROE computation for our client position and back testing v/s pre trade analysis.
  • Monthly analysis of liquidity profile of Margin Loan collaterals.
  • Highlighting breaches from collateral liquidity test to Trading and Market Risk team to take corrective measures.
  • Preparing business performance decks for regulatory bodies like OCC, FDIC, FED…
  • Process improvements and automations
  • Working with Controllers, Legal, Trading and Global Capital Markets teams to identify gaps and enhancing the reporting process.
  • Automation of daily reporting and recurring analytics work.
  • Working with IT experts and Strats on developing financial models.
  • Own the central data repository for IED bank activity and run queries upon request
  • Manually link together data and keep transaction level and aggregated data up to date from various sources.
  • Reconcile the data to identify anomalies and get them fixed.
  • Produce key metric reporting (adhoc/regular) from this database, analysing and highlighting large moves and trends with commentary.
  • Manage creation of periodic materials
  • Create various quarterly and monthly reporting packs, including consulting with multiple data sources and teams
  • Various other requests and adhocs.
  • Helping the team in various other tasks and managing a variety of adhoc requests.

Skills Required (essential)

We are looking for a pro-active person who has a high attention to detail, is a quick learner and has a natural curiosity to understand about financial markets and products.

  • Basic derivative knowledge like Greeks, Options and Futures is a must.
  • Self-motivated person, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel. Ability to analyse data and create charts or tables to clearly demonstrate trends and exceptions.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint. Ability to translate verbal or written talking points and highlights into material suitable for presentation to senior management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to be able to understand requirements, request data from, and present information to overseas colleagues from many different departments.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience with MBA in Finance.

Other Requirements

Candidate should be happy to work during 1.30 pm IST – 10.30 pm IST to have overlap with all regions.

Skills Desired

  • Familiarity with financial concepts such as balance sheet, capital, return on equity, etc.
  • Familiarity with structured and derivative products.
