The Clinical Director for the Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Program will develop, implement, and oversee this new therapeutic offering within CIIS’s established counseling clinic framework. This position is responsible for creating a safe, ethical, and effective clinical environment for ketamine-assisted therapy while providing supervision and training to clinicians and interns. The Clinical Director will work collaboratively with the Clinical Co-Chair and other CIIS leadership to ensure the program aligns with the institute’s integral approach to healing and education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development and Implementation

  • Implement the ketamine-assisted therapy program infrastructure in alignment with CIIS’s integral philosophy and evidence-based practices
  • Own clinical protocols, screening procedures, and treatment guidelines specific to ketamine-assisted therapy
  • Create documentation systems that meet legal and ethical requirements while integrating with existing clinic procedures
  • Build relationships with medical providers for appropriate collaboration and referrals

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide clinical supervision to therapists and trainees working within the ketamine-assisted therapy program
  • Facilitate weekly ketamine-assisted therapy consultation groups
  • Ensure quality of care through regular case reviews and outcome monitoring
  • Manage client flow, from referral and screening through treatment and discharge

Training and Education

  • Oversee training curriculum for therapists and trainees in ketamine-assisted therapy approaches
  • Conduct workshops and supervision sessions on psychedelic-assisted therapy modalities
  • Collaborate with CIIS academic programs to create learning opportunities for students
  • Participate in and contribute to CIIS’s psychedelic research initiatives when appropriate

Administrative Oversight

  • Implement and maintain adherence to clinical policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines for ketamine-assisted therapy
  • Monitor documentation quality and timeliness in electronic health records
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation
  • Participate in monthly SPPH Clinic Meetings and other meetings as required

Collaboration and Outreach

  • Serve as liaison between the ketamine-assisted therapy program and other CIIS departments
  • Represent the program in community outreach efforts and professional networks
  • Support grant writing and fundraising activities related to program development
  • Contribute to publications and presentations that advance the field

Job Requirements:


Competencies

  • Deep understanding of psychedelic-assisted therapy approaches, particularly ketamine-assisted therapy
  • Knowledge of transpersonal, psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive behavioral, and integral therapeutic frameworks
  • Strong clinical and ethical judgment with the ability to manage complex clinical situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural humility
  • Ability to navigate complex systems while maintaining focus on therapeutic outcomes
  • Leadership capacity to inspire and guide a team through innovation and change
  • Commitment to social justice and accessibility in mental health care

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • California clinical license (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Clinical Psychologist) with a minimum of 5 years post-licensure experience
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to therapists and/or trainees
  • Demonstrated experience with ketamine-assisted therapy or related psychedelic-assisted therapy modalities
  • Background in community mental health and/or academic clinical settings
  • Knowledge of and alignment with CIIS’s integral approach to psychology and healing
  • Experience developing new clinical programs preferred

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Occasional work performed alone with ability to work remotely from time-to-time. Collaboration and constant work around and with other people.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

This position requires attention to detail, good memory, ability to work under deadline pressure, sitting and standing for long periods of time, oral and written communication, keyboarding for significant portions of the workday, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, patience, and tact to perform the essential functions.

WAGES AND BENEFITS

This is a half-time (0.5 FTE) exempt position. Hours will be negotiated based on program needs. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes pro-rated benefits

NOTES TO CANDIDATE

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a clinical setting with some administrative duties that may be completed remotely
  • Must maintain appropriate professional appearance and demeanor while representing CIIS
  • May require occasional evening hours to accommodate client needs or training sessions
