Position Overview

The Controller will work in partnership with the CFO, CEO and Shore Capital operating partners to develop and implement an accounting and finance infrastructure to support strategic decision making in a high-growth environment. The Controller will be responsible for managing internal controls, maintaining the general ledger, overseeing the financial close process, preparing financial statements, and supporting the opening of de novo locations as well as the integration of acquisitions into the consolidated accounting function. This is a very early stage, entrepreneurial opportunity and the Controller will play a critical role in building out a strong foundation, nearly from scratch, for this investment platform to support rapid, acquisitive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage the month-end close including reconciling all accounts, preparing consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, analyzing the financial statements and variances, and ensuring the financial reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Assist the CFO in managing the accounting and finance functions by ensuring timely and accurate information is provided around revenue recognition. The successful controller will help identify and be a partner in solving any root cause issues that arise.
  • Assist the CFO in the annual budgeting process
  • Plan, organize and implement accounting systems, processes and procedures to promote strong internal controls with a continuous focus on process improvement
  • Review and approve Accounts Payable vouchers and weekly payment selections
  • Manage the payroll function, including a review and audit of the weekly payroll data for accuracy.
  • Create and calculate KPIs for the leadership team
  • Champion the year-end audit by providing requested information to the external CPA firm
  • Support the annual tax process by tracking estimated tax payments and coordinating with the external tax advisor throughout the year
  • Support the integration of acquired practices into the consolidated accounting function

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus
  • CPA and public accounting audit experience is required
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Private Equity portfolio company experience is highly preferred
  • M&A and integration experience is highly preferred
  • Experience at a multi-site healthcare or retail business is highly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with ability to create well-organized financial models
