The Director of Cloud Infrastructure Operations is a dynamic, service-oriented, and technically proficient leader responsible for guiding infrastructure support activities within the IGM Technology organization. The ideal candidate will possess an active management style, a deep understanding of infrastructure operations, and experience in a hybrid/multi-vendor environment. They will be passionate about addressing the technology needs of our Advisors, Clients, and Business, ensuring a seamless and positive experience.
This role requires someone who can unite teams to solve problems, creatively tackle opportunities to eliminate pain points, and drive continuous service improvement. The candidate should foster a collaborative environment and demonstrate calm leadership under pressure. The successful candidate will be a service-oriented technology professional with excellent logical and problem-solving skills, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact.
DUTIES INCLUDE
- Lead a team responsible for managing a critical multi-cloud, multi-vendor environment with high availability requirements.
- Responsible for managing, mentoring, and fostering the career development of all team members, including overseeing team composition, skillset enhancement, hiring, motivation, retention, performance and rewards assessments, as well as development and corrective actions.
- Accountable to ensure effective monitoring of service availability, responsiveness, health, security and integrity of systems; including infrastructure maintenance, patching and vulnerability management activities.
- Collaborates with the AVP of Cloud Infrastructure Operations to develop and implement strategic technology initiatives, plan staffing requirements, and manage the annual operating budget for their area of responsibility, ensuring targets are achieved.
- Collaborates with Engineering and Architecture leadership to drive continuous improvement of support methodologies and processes, ensuring team direction and skill development aligns with the overall enterprise infrastructure strategy.
- Own and manage relationships with third-party service providers in a hybrid-outsourced environment, tracking SLA adherence and overseeing ongoing service improvement activities.
- Responsible for operations focused project support with an emphasis on transition to production activities and support model development.
- Establish and continually refine incident and problem management processes including root cause analysis and critical outage response capabilities.
- Participate and support infrastructure security and compliance audits.
- Drive an entrepreneurial culture that researches, tests and implements innovative ideas and trends for cloud and infrastructure support.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 5 – 7 years progressively more experience in an infrastructure service delivery environment, with experience in a leadership role an asset
- Experience within a 24×7 production environment, preferably across multiple clouds or data centers and 3rd party service providers
- Knowledge of cloud based IaaS environment management, certifications in GCP and Azure an asset
- Knowledge of ITSM or ITOM activities and their role and implementation in a large corporation, applicable certifications is an asset
- Knowledge of ServiceNow platform and ability to analyze trends in incident management
- Knowledge of IT project management principles and practices including scope, issue, and risk management and be able to work across multiple initiatives (as applicable)
- Must be capable and proficient working remotely
- Job requirements the ability to be stationary for long periods of time
- Must have exceptional communication, organization, time management skills and strong personal commitment to quality service
- There is a 24×7 on call requirement with this position (vacation and health days aside)
Asset:
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, Azure, LAN/WAN/Wireless Networking, Palo Alto, DNS/DHCP, Active Directory, Linux and Datadog
- Canadian Financial industry experience
- Bilingual (English, French preferred)
