We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director, IT Risk and Controls to lead the enterprise-wide remediation of segregation of duties (SoD) issues contributing to a material weakness. This critical role will drive the transformation of security roles, internal controls, and governance processes to establish a sustainable risk management framework.
This role will partner closely with IT, business stakeholders, and external partners to design and implement solutions that mitigate risk while enabling operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in risk and controls, IT security roles, and change management to successfully lead this enterprise-wide effort.
What you will be doing:
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end remediation of Segregation of Duties (SoD) conflicts across the enterprise, ensuring timely resolution of control deficiencies.
- Oversee the security role redesign initiative to create a sustainable, compliant role structure.
- Drive the implementation of SAP GRC to support access governance and compliance.
- Establish a governance framework to strengthen internal controls and prevent future SoD conflicts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Change Management
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, Internal Audit, and business units to align remediation and role redesign efforts with operational needs.
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, external partners, and auditors to ensure coordinated execution.
- Develop and lead a change management strategy to support adoption and reinforce a strong control environment.
- Educate and engage stakeholders on risk mitigation and long-term compliance practices.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements.
- Implement proactive monitoring and reporting mechanisms for SoD conflicts and access risks.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of control improvements.
What you need to succeed:
- An undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Technology, or a related field – a master’s degree (MBA, Accounting, etc.) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in risk and controls, IT security, or governance roles, with a strong focus on SoD remediation and security role management.
- Proven experience leading large-scale remediation programs and SAP security role redesign in a complex enterprise environment. Retail industry experience is a plus.
- Deep expertise in SAP GRC (Access Control).
- Strong knowledge of internal control, audit, and security frameworks (i.e., COSO, COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST) and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication skills for clearly conveying ideas and collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach challenges with a critical and innovative mindset.
- Experience working in a complex global, preferably publicly traded, company work environment and managing external consulting partners and auditors.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change management initiatives in a complex, cross-functional environment.
- Proven ability to manage complex programs, including planning, execution, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.

- A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $180,000-220,000 per year at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. Please note that the range reflects the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program
- In New York, this role will work a flexible hybrid model based in our New York Office located in the vibrant and iconic Flatiron District putting you a short walk to Madison Square Garden, Greenwich Village, and all that New York City offers.
- In Chicago, this role will work a flexible hybrid model based at Wilson Sporting Goods Co. global headquarters.
