Head of Financial Risk

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned professional to take on the role of Head of Financial Risk. This position is based in the vibrant city of Bangkok and offers the chance to oversee a broad spectrum of financial risks, including product development, reinsurance, market, credit, and counterparty credit risk. The successful candidate will be instrumental in strategic asset allocation, investment strategy, and M&A.

What You’ll Do

As the Head of Financial Risk, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a wide range of financial risks. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping product development strategies, managing reinsurance arrangements, and mitigating market, credit, and counterparty credit risks. You will also contribute significantly to strategic asset allocation decisions, investment strategies, and mergers & acquisitions. Your responsibilities will extend to ensuring compliance with local and group risk management frameworks. Your keen eye for detail will be essential in reviewing and challenging the identification of financial risks and controls.

  • Provide oversight for financial risks including product development, reinsurance, market, credit, and counterparty credit risk
  • Contribute to strategic asset allocation, investment strategy, and M&A
  • Participate in strategic and business planning
  • Manage capital and make material business decisions
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with local and Group Risk Management Frameworks
  • Review and challenge the identification of financial risks and controls
  • Support root cause analysis and control enhancements for any incidents/breaches relating to Financial Risk Management
  • Monitor key risk indicators of Financial Risk

What You Bring

The ideal candidate for the Head of Financial Risk position brings a wealth of experience from the finance industry. With a degree in Finance or related fields such as Economics or Actuarial Science, you have honed your skills over at least seven years in life insurance roles involving product development/pricing or financial reporting. Your knowledge of Economic Capital, EEV, IFRS and risk management is extensive. Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills are matched by your excellent communication abilities.

  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science or Mathematics is required
  • Qualified actuary is preferable
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in life insurance involving product development/pricing, experience studies or financial reporting is necessary
  • Experience and knowledge in Economic Capital, EEV, IFRS and risk management are essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are needed
  • Excellent communication skills are required
