Controller – Healthcare Client (Consultant – Temporary Position)
Location: White Plains, NY
Work Hours: 8:30 – 5:30, M-F
Hourly Rate: $60-70/hr
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Temporary Controller for our administrative office. The Controller will provide day-to-day management of the finance, accounting, purchasing, and revenue functions and their teams. This position assists our multi-site healthcare operation, works with the CFO on budgets, grants, and other projects while supervising accounting, billing, and payroll departments.
Financial Operations Responsibilities
- Supervise all financial functions, including accounting, payroll, revenue analysis, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgets, fixed assets, cash management, financial planning, banking relationships, purchasing, investments, and required reporting
- Coordinate the development of operating, foundation, capital, and grant budgets
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly financial and operational reports including Income and Expense, Balance Sheet, Cashflow Analysis, and Departmental Expense Reports
- Prepare analyses of regular monthly reports focusing on variance analysis, projections, recommendations for correction, and solutions to prevent recurrence
- Guide documentation of financial activities and preparation of annual audits by independent Auditor
- Document business and financial plans for funding agencies
- Assist the CFO in financial modeling and development of project plans for new grants, sites, and initiatives
- Coordinate budgets for all new ventures and future programs
- Control Cash Management including Projections, follow up on AIR Collections and Cash Disbursements
Management Responsibilities
- Manage direct reports and their teams effectively
- Foster a sense of team and community through adaptable and flexible leadership
- Delegate responsibilities fairly and equitably
- Provide day-to-day management of monthly deliverables
- Deliver continuous developmental feedback to staff including annual performance evaluations
- Work closely with the CFO to establish, implement, and monitor annual benchmarks aligned with organizational vision and business goals
- Oversee training and development of staff to improve quality and efficient work practices
- Direct and manage financial department personnel including goal setting, development, progress reviews, and remuneration
- Meet ongoing deadlines consistently
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
- Certifications: CPA would be a plus
- Experience:
- 8-10 years in finance, accounting, and related fields + leadership experience
- Financial modeling and budgeting experience
- Healthcare finance knowledge preferred
- Skills:
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities
- Exceptional financial analysis and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of financial systems; proficiency with various financial reporting tools
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Access)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high accountability healthcare environment
- Outcome-focused approach with understanding of organizational requirements
