About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health is a large, networked Aboriginal Community Controlled Heath Service (ACCHS), representing a collective of five ACCHS in the urban Southeast region of Queensland. IUIH’s role is to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to system reform and planning, and the development, delivery and continuous improvement of comprehensive primary health and related services, with a vision for strong and healthy Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children , families and communities.
About the Role?
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced GP to join a dynamic organisation in a senior healthcare leadership role, aligned with our vision and purpose. You’ll be contributing to system-level health and related action and impact, while making a difference for individuals and their families delivering high quality care as a GP.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical advice to Executive, Clinical, Service, and Program leads to support safe, high-quality design, development, delivery and continuous improvement in health and related services
- Provide expert and timely clinical advice to the CEO and IUIH ELT as it relates to the development of IUIH and IUIH Network policies, submissions, funding applications and reports
- Provide a point of clinical reference for Senior Clinicians and Managers across IUH, supporting timely and effective clinical advice and decision-making
- Foster a culture of openness, transparency, self-reflection and integrity across IUIH, encouraging gaps, issues and incidents to be readily identified and acted upon in the interests of continually improving the safety and quality of service provision for clients and community
- Contribute clinical knowledge and expertise in the development and expansion of the scope and volume of health and related services delivered by IUIH in response to identified current and projected needs, contributing technical expertise during planning, design, development, funding submission, and implementation stages of new service establishment as relevant / required
- Working closely with the IUIH Data and Research Teams, identify opportunities and / or support, both directly and indirectly, the development and implementation of evaluation and research projects which seek to inform ongoing improvement in the quality, scope and impact of health and related services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Maintain strong, collaborative and mutually respectful relationships with IUIH Network Clinical / Healthcare leaders
- Work closely with IUIH Network Clinical and Executive Leaders to support ongoing development and implementation of connected systems of healthcare quality and safety

About You?
- Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities; knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health services, embracing of the principles and practice of community control.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build strong and productive relationships
- Sound understanding of the role of the Clinical Director in a multidisciplinary, comprehensive primary health care setting
Mandatory Requirements:
- MBBS; FRACGP, FACRRM or equivalent
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as specialist General Practitioner
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a VR GP in a primary health care setting
- Recency / currency of GP practice
- Demonstrated clinical leadership experience
- Current Medical Indemnity Insurance
