The Regional Director of Business Development is responsible for leading and executing business development strategies to drive growth across the Midwest Region, including Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Indiana and Kansas. This senior leadership role will oversee regional business development activities, manage and mentor a team of business development professionals, build strong relationships with key clients and prospects, and collaborate with operations and technical teams to align client needs with UES services. The Regional Director will play a critical role in strengthening UES’s market presence, supporting regional business objectives, and achieving growth targets across a diverse range of industries and geographies.
Responsibilities
- Lead business development initiatives to proactively identify and secure new business opportunities across transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, institutional, and commercial development sectors within Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kansas. Build and strengthen long-term relationships with public and private sector clients, including government agencies, private companies, consulting firms, and contractors.
- Develop, implement, and oversee regional business development plans and ensure alignment with UES corporate growth strategies.
- Manage and mentor a team of Business Development Representatives, providing direction, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Partner with regional leadership and technical teams to develop proposals, presentations, and strategies tailored to client needs and industry demands.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and client feedback to inform strategic adjustments and maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaborate with the corporate marketing team to create targeted marketing campaigns, collateral, and tools to support business development efforts.
- Represent UES at industry events, client meetings, and conferences to enhance brand visibility and generate new business leads.
- Regularly track, analyze, and report on business development activities, sales forecasts, and pipeline health to regional and executive leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of business development experience, preferably within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) or related industries.
- Proven leadership experience overseeing business development teams and achieving sustained revenue growth.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical, environmental, construction materials testing, and related consulting services.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage a broad geographic territory and adapt strategies to different local markets.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the Midwest Region (OH, MO, KY, AR, TN, KS, IN).
