VP – Alternative Investments

Job Summary

Nassau is seeking a Vice President to join Nassau Alternative Investments, LLC (“NAI”), a registered investment adviser focused on private market fund commitments, co-investments, and other sponsor-led direct investments. NAI oversees a ~$1.5B portfolio of private markets assets, and is responsible for the development and execution of Nassau’s alternative investment strategy. The Vice President will be involved in all aspects of NAI’s business, including origination and underwriting of new investment opportunities, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring and management. This role will have a particular focus on helping lead and execute NAI’s opportunistic private markets investments outside of private equity. Additional responsibilities will include supporting business development and the growth of NAI’s third-party asset mandates and capital markets activity.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Help lead NAI’s opportunistic private markets investment activities outside of private equity, including investments in private credit, specialty / asset-based finance, real assets, and other niche private market strategies
  • May selectively participate in NAI’s private equity investment activity
  • Support new investment origination and pipeline management
  • Perform market research to identify, develop, and refine specific investment theses and strategies
  • Contribute to the evaluation of new investments through due diligence, including preparation of financial models and other quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Prepare and present investment recommendation materials
  • Support / lead execution of new investments, including structuring, negotiation, and documentation, working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and management, including primary coverage responsibility for specific investments, and development and preparation of regular portfolio reporting and other ad hoc analysis
  • Support other NAI activities including growth of third-party asset mandates and capital markets activity, including alternative investment securitization transactions
  • Various other duties/tasks required to support NAI’s activities and growth

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or equivalent and/or MBA
  • ~8-12 years of relevant work experience (e.g., experience investing in private market/alternative investment funds, co-investments, and/or direct investments; investment banking)
    • Ideally, seeking private markets experience outside of private equity (e.g., private credit, specialty / asset-based finance, real assets, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Judgement, maturity, and the ability to work independently
  • Natural self-starter with an appreciation for extreme ownership, accountability, and commitment to the intensity and challenges presented by the needs of a fast paced, high growth organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); experience with private markets investment systems (e.g., iLevel, Cobalt) a plus

The base salary for this position falls within Nassau’s salary band G: $180,000-$240,000 depending upon experience.
